Qui sont-ils ?

Manowar est un groupe de heavy metal traditionnel américain formé en 1980. Le groupe a aussi été qualifié de "power metal" dans les années 80 mais à l'époque ce terme n'avait pas le même sens qu'aujourd'hui et désignait simplement des groupes de heavy metal traditionnel mettant l'accent sur la puissance de leur musique et une imagerie guerrière.

Le groupe de Power Metal ! Cultissime, enorme ! Quand on ecoute ce groupe on se sent comme un guerrier en plein combat sanglant ! Une energie folle, on se sent apartenire a une foule immense ! Vraiment enorme ce groupe, Heil Gods Of Metal !

Paraît que y a des chances qu'ils soient au Graspop ! Et en tête d'affiche, ça j'espère pas mais bon.

Wah, j'aime beaucoup! Je suis content d'avoir découvert ce groupe, vraiment. "Die for Metal" est très bon, je trouve.

Je vois que tout le monde n'aime pas, mais bon, hein

Ils ont de sacrés records quand même ces mecs

Ils ont joué le plus long concert : 5h01 en Bulgarie en 2008 et le concert le plus "bruyant" aussi apparemment ils l'ont fait x)

Grand groupe, si on adhère à leur côté "too much" un peu bêbête... moi j'adhère
Aujourd'hui ça ne vaut plus trop le coup hélas, à part 1 ou 2 morceaux genre Sleipnir leur dernier album est mauvais (rah et leur morceau "Father" qu'ils ont repris en 2384 langues, mon dieu... j'ai failli me pisser dessus :') ), mais ils ont sorti des petites pépites dans leurs belles années.

Dans mon top je citerais :
- Fighting The World
- Sign of The Hammer
- Kings of Metal

ah et "Hail To England" rien que pour "Kill With Power"...

Kill With Power... excellent titre.

Kings Of Metal, c'était un sacré album.

J'adore The Dawn of Battle, lourd et énergique comme titre !

.K.'s Classic Rock magazine recently conducted an interview with former MANOWAR drummer Scott Columbus. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Classic Rock: You've recently issued a press release announcing you are playing some dates with former MANOWAR guitarist Ross The Boss.

Scott Columbus: Ross and I have been in pretty close contact over the years and recently over the past year we've been talking about playing together again. Talk turned into reality and we're playing a bunch of shows over the summer in Europe and the United States and we're going to have a good time.

Classic Rock: Where does this leave your current status in MANOWAR?

Scott Columbus: My current status is… (pause) Well, if you look at their website my picture is still up there, I don't know why. I'm not currently in the band MANOWAR anymore.

Classic Rock: When did the split occur?

Scott Columbus: I'd say it was about April 2008. When Mr. DeMaio [Joey DeMaio, MANOWAR bassist/mainman] and myself agreed to disagree on a few points of interest. That leads us up to today. You know what? I had a long and wonderful career with MANOWAR; I have no regrets, it's just life moves on.

Classic Rock: Would you classify the reasons for the split personal, financial or musical?

Scott Columbus: Yes [laughs]. My answer is yes to all of the above.

Classic Rock: MANOWAR has stated that you are still in the band and just taking time off for personal tragedies. What is your take on that?

Scott Columbus: Well, you can refer to a few questions ago when I agreed to disagree with Mr. DeMaio. In other words, maybe that's a question he will answer if you ask him. I am not in the band. Period. There you go.

Classic Rock: You left the band for a period in the early '90s and MANOWAR contributed the time away to your son's health problems. Was this the case?

Scott Columbus: It was the very end of 1989 leading into 1990. I was officially gone in 1990, the first time. I can just tell you and the world that my son was never sick. So you can deduce from that what you may. However, that's what I'll tell you [concerning the official statement].

Classic Rock: Have you had any contact with the band since your departure in April of 2008?

Scott Columbus: Yes, I speak quite often with the singer [Eric Adams] who is a dear, dear friend of mine. He and I hung out on the road all the time for many years, so I speak to Eric all the time. Joey [DeMaio] I speak to periodically. Some of the ancillary people I speak with because we've always had a great relationship, so why let something professional interrupt something personal. I tend to make friends for life. Once people get to know me they realize I wear my heart on my sleeve, there's no bullshit about me. I can do a lot of things very well but one thing I really suck at is lying.

Un groupe que j'ai découvert il y a une semaine ou deux et qui est déjà dans mes favoris ! Ce groupe est vraiment génial, j'ai écouté le dernier album en entier et il est vraiment excellent ! J'ai vraiment fait une bonne découverte avec ce groupe !

"Gods of War" c'est justement le plus mauvais de la discographie de manowar même s'il reste excellent! Les meilleurs sont Kings of Metal, sign of the hammer, the triumph of steel... En fait ils sont tous géniaux sans exception mais ceux là sont mes préférés.

Un de mes groupes préférés tout simplement !

Des titres mythiques comme "Battle Hymns", "Return of the Warlord", "Kings of Metal", "The Gods Made Heavy Metal", et j'en passe ne s'oublient jamais !

à l'heure qu'il est "Battle Hymns 2011" devrait être sorti !

Je m'y remet là, ça fait du bien. Je crois que je vais essayer de me faire toute leur disco
Ca me plairait bien de les voir en concert, mais bon là ils n'ont qu'une date à Birmingham en mars.

J'aime pas et j'ai vu deux chansons en live, ça m'a suffit

Pas trop mon truc non plus je les trouve trop cliché. Enfin j'aime des groupes clichés aussi je sais mais là ça passe pas.
